The Revenue Leak Score: The New Metric for 2026 ROI

Most ecommerce managers focus on ROAS (Return on Ad Spend). But ROAS only tells you how well your visible products are doing. It ignores the 60% of your catalog that is invisible.

You can have a 500% ROAS and still be failing. If you only sell 10% of your products at a high return while the other 90% sit idle in your feed, you are ceding market share to competitors. ROAS is a localized efficiency metric, not a growth metric. It hides systemic waste in your catalog.

Revenue Leak Score (RLS) exposes the opportunity cost of suppressed products. It turns "potential" into a hard currency value, showing you exactly how much money your unoptimized product data is costing your bottom line.

(Potential Click Volume - Actual Volume) × AOV = Revenue Leak Score

Calculating your RLS manually helps you understand the scale of opportunity locked in your Google Merchant Center. The math requires pulling three metrics from Google Merchant Center and Google Ads:

A fashion merchant has 2,500 active products. 1,500 of them are suppressed, generating 200,000 total impressions but only 100 clicks (0.05% CTR). • Actual Clicks: 100 Clicks • Potential Clicks (At 1.2% Category Benchmark): 2,400 Clicks • Click Gap: 2,300 Clicks Lost • Conversion Rate (2.0%) × AOV ($100): $2 per click value • Total Monthly Leakage: 2,300 Clicks × $2 = $4,600 / Month
